Why the bed comes first
Bed bugs feed on people while they’re asleep.
Living close to the bed means they don’t have to travel very far for their next meal.
That’s why every inspection starts there.
As numbers increase, they spread
The longer an infestation is left untreated, the more hiding places become occupied.
That can include:
- Bedside furniture.
- Sofas.
- Upholstered chairs.
- Curtain headings.
- Behind pictures.
- Skirting boards.
- Loose wallpaper.
- Cracks around sockets and switches.
The insects don’t suddenly decide to move.
They simply run out of space.
A pattern we’ve noticed
One of the biggest surprises for homeowners is discovering that the bed itself contains very few insects.
Instead, the main infestation is hidden inside the bed frame or the headboard.
That’s why dismantling the bed is often an important part of a professional inspection.

Never stop searching because the mattress looks clear.
The bed is much more than just the mattress.
